Principal’s Message

Kia ora Parents and Whanau

Time certainly does not stand still; it is hard to believe we are now working with our year 6 students transitioning from their contributing schools into Northcross for the 2024 year. At the other end of the spectrum our Year 8 students will be making their decisions around Secondary options for next year. Please contact us if you need clarification regarding the transitioning process, especially into the colleges.

An acknowledgement to all parents who attended our recent Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews either face to face or online. We trust you found the meetings beneficial, receiving accurate information regarding your child’s progress. The strong partnership between our parent community and teachers plays a crucial role in creating a thriving educational environment for our students.

Fundraising Success: $84,422 Raised!

We are thrilled to announce the remarkable success of our recent fundraising efforts through the school Fun Run. Thanks to the generosity and support of our school community, and the hard work and perseverance of our students, we have raised a staggering $84,422. This impressive achievement will significantly contribute to enhancing the educational experience of our students by contributing to the building of school facilities and purchasing of resources. The recent opening of our covered court area and the equipment inside is testament to Fun Run money raised.

Congratulations to students, Cyrus Zhang, Bryden McKinnie, Anthony Zhao and Adi Pope who all fundraised over $2000 each! A special acknowledgment of Miss Hale, Mrs Thomas and Mrs Naidu for their organisation of the day supported by our very energetic teachers. Your dedication in ensuring the success of this day is truly commendable.

Completion of the New Adventure Playground

Another exciting facility just completed and opened last Friday is our new Adventure Park (again supported from Fun Run Money). This state-of-the-art concourse was designed to spark creativity, promote physical activity, and provide a safe and enjoyable space for our students to play and explore. We are confident that this new addition will enhance the overall learning environment and contribute to the holistic development of our students.

On behalf of our School Board of Trustees, I would like to express our gratitude to everyone who contributed in making this project a reality, including our students. Two years ago a team of students canvassed their peers asking what the type of adventure playground would be most beneficial in our school. The feedback came in with definite features for the new apparatus that would; accommodate many students, help with agility, climbing and balance, promote upper body strength and enhance collaboration. The working group then met with representatives from the Playground People who offered several options and prices. These designs were taken back to the student cohort, from their feedback the current deign was chosen. The working group then met with the Northcross Board of Trustees, who agreed to the design, pricing and construction. Thank you to the working party students, Seth Wilson and Naomi Wanghan who still currently attend Northcross. The playground stands as a testament to what we can achieve when we work together with a shared vision.

Thank you once again for your participation in the parent-teacher-student interviews and to all those who made a contribution to our recent fundraiser. Much appreciation too to our students and Board of Trustees for their unwavering support throughout the design and completion of the Adventure Park. Together, we are making a positive impact on the lives of our students and helping shape their future success.
