Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Whānau,

On this last day of term for 2023 I would like to acknowledge the exceptional contributions of our students, dedicated teachers and supportive community.

Our students have certainly embraced the challenges presented, whether in the classroom, on the stage or on the sports field. Remember the values you have learned at Northcross throughout 2023 and continue to use them to make positive differences in your lives, whether returning next year or moving onto secondary school.

Recently, we conducted a survey to gather community perspectives on what Northcross is doing well and where we can improve. Thank you for your responses and valuable feedback we received. Among the key themes that emerged, a need for greater clarity around student assessment was requested. We acknowledge your feedback and are committed to addressing the points raised in the coming year.

An acknowledgment of Karin Fenton, Associate Principal, who will be retiring from Northcross after 20 years of dedicated service. Karin’s commitment in ensuring our students received the best education possible along with her outstanding leadership, and her passion for education, has contributed so positively our school culture. We wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.

Congratulations to Deputy Principal, Wendy Naidu who has been appointed as the Principal of Orewa Beach School. Wendy’s leadership, expertise, and passion for learning have been instrumental in the continued success of our school. We are thrilled for Wendy in her new role but will miss her hugely.

Also taking up new challenges outside Northcross next year, Sophie Carr, teaching in Australia, Ivy Daniels, teaching at Murrays Bay Primary, Sun Lee, head of ESOL at Takapuna Intermediate, Kassandra King, moving into the private sector, Sarah Cattell, Deputy Principal at Pine Hill. Thank you for your commitment to Northcross Intermediate and all the best for your future ventures.

An acknowledgment and thank you to our 2023 Student Leaders who have contributed so positively to our school throughout the year representing the greater student community. Congratulations to our new Student Leaders for 2024 led by Izzy Carmichael, Head Girl and Wilbur Congalton, Head Boy (photo above of our 2024 NX Student Leaders).

As we look toward the future, we are committed to building upon the strong foundation that makes Northcross Intermediate such a special place. We will continue to focus on providing our students with a challenging and engaging curriculum, nurturing a supportive and inclusive environment, and fostering a love of learning that will last a lifetime.

Thank you for your continued partnership in education. We wish you and your family a safe and restful holiday season.

Nga mihi nui
