High Standard at NX Speech Competition

Early in Term Three we were able to hold our Northcross Schoolwide Speech Competition in the PAC. We had Literacy Leaders from our local high schools, Long Bay College and Rangitoto College, attend as judges. Additionally, Mark Jensen (Drama Teacher at NX) also assisted with the judging process. The standard was very high as the top two speakers from each team presented their speeches. Selecting the winners was a challenging task for our judges and after much deliberation they declared the following results:

  • 1st: Carly Cameron Room 30 Why pronouns are important
  • 2nd: Willow Lane Room 54 Why fairytales are a bad influence on kids
  • 3rd equal: Sai Ganuga Room 10 Mental Health Side Effects and Tessa Jenkins Room 32 The power of never giving up

Carly and Willow will be representing Northcross at the North Shore Rotary Preliminary Competition later in the year. It was a wonderful event and fantastic to have the opportunity to have a small audience involved.
