The PlayBoys drama team finished the term with their fifth performance of Eugene Ionesco’s The Chairs. This play is a superb example of absurdist theatre and it was truly a wonderful effort from this cast of 16 to present their version of the famous play. Audiences were on the edge of their seats as they enjoyed their first experience of this particular genre – theatre that appears to be quite random but actually has a potent subtext and relies completely on the way words are expressed rather than what is said.
I have enjoyed my work with these boys and feel very privileged to have introduced them to edgy ideas and different ways of presenting drama. I wish them well on their college drama journey.
