This term, Dalveena and Khadija (Room 4) organised students from across Northcross to bring in special treats, cakes, biscuits, slices, toffee apples and so much more for a Bake Sale held on Friday 20th of October. The bake sale was to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities – an organisation dedicated to supporting families of sick children staying in Starship hospital. They help families physically, economically, and emotionally during their health care journey. A Ronald McDonald House program helps reduce stress and financial burden for families when they must travel far from home to access medical care for their child.
The bake sale was very successful with $1010.40 raised for the Ronald McDonald House Charity – thanks to all those who supported this important cause, and special thanks to Dalveena and Khadija for all their hard work for an organisation close to their hearts.
Wayne Howett, Chief Executive for RMHC, wrote thanking the school for their support:
Hi Northcross Intermediate,
Thank you! Your generous gift is making an immediate difference by helping the hundreds of courageous families that walk through our doors every day. Research shows that children recover more quickly when their family is close, so thank you for playing your part in helping families focus on what matters most – each other. Tonight, our facilities across New Zealand could be supporting as many as 150 families who have a child receiving medical treatment. Whatever their need, and for however long they need, families from all over New Zealand will have a place to stay and support because of your generosity.
We love to hear from our RMHC NZ family, so if you have any questions, get in touch at fundraising@rmhc.org.nz or 0800764269.
Thank you for keeping families together at a time when it matters most.
