Indoor Football Fever

The Friday after school Indoor Football has been as popular as ever and not just for the avid football players. An impressive 28 teams played in both the Term 2 and Term 3 season. It was fantastic to see so many students taking up the game for the first time and becoming more and more skilful over the course of the season. The 5 player and 18 minute games are fast paced and require a combination of quick passing, speed and fine ball control.

In Term 3, teams were again divided into 4 pools and after some major upsets and many hard-core pool games; Bubble Gubbiez, 6 Bananas, Chicken Lovers and EA Sports, made it through to the semis. The Bubble Gubbiez v 6 Bananas semi match will go down in Indoor Footy history. Caleb Field scored a precision winning goal with the score at 2 all with only 17 seconds to go, putting Bubble Gubbiez through to the final against an in form EA Sports team. Despite having no subs in the final, due to player injuries, the Bubble Gubbiez came out strong. Their precision passing, determined defence and accurate shooting from Kodai Terada saw them win the game 6-1.

Special thanks to Alex Roberts and Xavier Turner for refereeing games over the year. A massive shout out to the 200 plus students who took part, making it a fun, enjoyable and active way to spend a Friday afternoon.
