Semester One has been another outstanding one for our after school basketball programme, with an incredible 34 teams made up of 270 Year 7 and 8 students. The enthusiasm, commitment, and passion shown by our players, coaches, managers, and supporters has been fantastic, and it has been wonderful to see so many students involved and representing Northcross Intermediate with pride.
The season has been filled with exciting games, strong teamwork, skill development, and plenty of determination on court. Our teams have continued to grow throughout the season, with players attending training sessions coached by Harbour Basketball coaches who build confidence, learn to work together, and showing great sportsmanship along the way.
Our Semester 1 competition saw 11 teams finish in the top two in their leagues, across the different grades, with 8 Northcross teams going on to win the league final. This also included our team of players who are new to basketball NX Makatu – well done girls!
Across the programme, our students have shown perseverance, improvement, teamwork, and sportsmanship. While the results are exciting, it is the growth in confidence, friendships, resilience, and skills that makes the programme so rewarding. We are particularly proud of the way our players represent Northcross on and off the court.
A huge thank you must go to our coaches, managers, parents, and supporters who give so generously of their time each week. Our basketball programme simply would not be possible without their commitment and support.
