Quality team work and all round football skill saw both our Y8 Boys and Y8 Girls achieve first place in their respective NH Futsal tournament early in term 3.
Our Y7 Girls team displayed non stop effort and determination on the court, battling it out against tough opposition all day. The team finished in a very respectable 3rd place overall, an outstanding result. The Y8 Girls team took to the court with plenty of talent and commitment and as a team went from strength to strength with each game that they played. They finished the day in a final against Belmont – it was a thrilling game with both teams showing immense speed and agility with the ball. After slotting 4 incredible goals, the team took the title of NH Champs!
It was a master class of Futsal from our Y8 Boys who dominated pool rounds scoring over 20 goals before meeting Murrays Bay in the Semi-Final match. Our NX team dominated the semi from the start and due to exceptional team work and quick accurate passing won the game 5-1 to make it into the final against Takapuna Normal. The final was a great spectacle with two very skilled teams battling it out on court. Amazing shots on goal were meet with equally amazing saves by the two goalies. It was a superb goal that broke the deadlock and gave Northcross the win and the title – NH Futsal Champions for 2022.
The Y7 Boys Team adapted quickly to the fast pace indoor Futsal game and were outplaying opposing teams, winning all their pool matches. They went up against much larger players in their Semi final against Northcote who scored quickly, putting the NX team on the back foot. Unfortunately the boys, despite some great chances, were unable to take the lead and faced the dreaded 3rd and 4th play off match against Albany Junior. Through determination, skill and player combinations the team played one of their best games of the day. The Y7’s showed real resilience to bounce back and clinch a win to secure them 3rd place.
