NX Sport

Northcross Sport has had a great start in Term 1. We are making the most of the current situation with numerous in-school sporting competitions and events, which has our students participating, competing and enjoying sport in general.

The first of our events was our NX Swim Meet. 75 NX Students took to the Northern Arena Pool to compete against their fellow Swimmers. It was great to see so much enthusiasm, determination and commitment in the pool, as every student took to the water with their best effort, trying to achieve their fastest time. The top results are now up on the NX Website – Sport – Swimming page. A special thank you to the students of Room 16 who came along as our timekeepers – they did a tremendous job!

The NX 3 on 3 Touch Competition has had an awesome start with 32 teams taking part on a Friday afternoon. The intensity of the games and the talent on display makes for an exciting atmosphere. An updated draw has now been published on the NX Website – Sport – 3 on 3 Touch page; this draw now includes two bonus games.

Our Lunchtime Sports Competition kicked off in Week 2 with our Year 8 classes playing Hash Max Cricket. In true NX fashion, classes were going all out to win, vying to stay in the Knockout Competition and take out the title of Hash Max Winners, all the while still ensuring sportsmanship was at the forefront of every game played. Big hits, outstanding catches and tight scoring matches have been on display every lunchtime, thrilling the large crowd that has gathered on the bank to support. Many thanks to Room 53 for giving up their lunchtimes to run this competition. The Year 7 Lunchtime Sport Competition will begin next week, with Y7 classes playing Softball Rounders.

With over 200 NX Netball players signed up, we started our Netball trials in Week 2 and have been progressively trialing over the last few weeks and will continue to in weeks to come. All those players who have taken to the court in this time, have shown outstanding determination, effort and enthusiasm, which has been excellent to see. The Netball NH Weekly Competition starts at the beginning of Term 2

We have an incredible 27 NX Teams in the NH Weekly Basketball Competition which started last week – 22 Boys teams and 5 Girls teams, 222 players in total. Our teams have performed exceptionally well, giving lots of effort and top sportsmanship in the grading rounds. They are ready to move into the Competition games starting Monday/Tuesday next week.

Hot off the bat of Harbour Softball coming into school for some lunchtime ‘Give It A Go’ sessions, two NX Softball Teams were formed and are now representing in the NH Afterschool Fast45/Slowpitch45 Competition. These two teams have taken to the diamond with lots of commitment and determination, having achieved great results so far.

An awesome start to the NX Sports year, especially given the challenging circumstances. Looking forward to plenty more opportunities becoming available over the remainder of the term.
