Last week, our Northcross Intermediate boys proudly represented the school at the Boys Netball Zone Day held at Netball North Harbour. Throughout the tournament, our students demonstrated outstanding skill, determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship both on and off the court. They competed with pride, respected officials and opponents, and were excellent ambassadors for our school.
Year 8 Boys
The Year 8 Boys were dominant throughout the tournament, winning all four of their round-robin games to qualify comfortably for the semi-finals. They continued their impressive form with a convincing 11–1 victory over Northcote Intermediate before advancing to the championship final against Takapuna Normal Intermediate.
The boys maintained their high standard of play in the final, producing another outstanding performance to secure a 12–3 victory and become Year 8 Zone Day Champions. Their consistency, strong teamwork, and disciplined play were evident throughout the day and deservedly earned them the title.
Year 7 Boys
Our Year 7 Boys had an outstanding tournament, winning three of their four round-robin games. Their only loss came in a closely contested 11–9 match against Murrays Bay Intermediate School (MBIS). The boys showed resilience and determination throughout the day, bouncing back to defeat Belmont Intermediate 10–6 in the semi-final.
This set up a rematch against MBIS in the championship final. The team delivered an exceptional performance, making an incredible comeback to win 14–6 and claim the Year 7 Zone Day Championship. Their ability to learn from an earlier defeat, work together under pressure, and finish the day as champions was a credit to their perseverance and teamwork.
To have both our Year 7 and Year 8 Boys crowned Zone Day Champions is an outstanding achievement . We are incredibly proud of the way they represented Northcross Intermediate, both through their performances on court and the respect and sportsmanship they displayed throughout the day. Congratulations to all of our players on their success. Both teams have now qualified for the Auckland Championships, where they will proudly represent Northcross Intermediate against the best intermediate school teams from across Auckland. We wish them every success as they continue their netball journey.
