Stuffy Enthralls NX Audiences

This was the 23rd year of Stuffy ( Stuff n Nonsense ) and the cast of 40 with Stuffy master, Mr Jensen, worked hard during term 1 to ensure that they were a well-rehearsed and tight ensemble. The theme they explored was ‘Fears and Phobias ‘ which actually provided an excellent springboard for devising and finding funny stuff. The character filled cast were up for the challenge of performing to their peers over one intense week, with six day time performances and an evening show for parents and the wider Northcross community. It is always amazing to have many ex-Stuffy cast members attend these shows and this year was no exception.

The stuffy crews dynamic and masterful execution enthralled the audiences.  All the Northcross staff and students enjoyed the show and supported the cast with generous applause and very positive feedback.

In term 1 the Stuffy Team had participated in the college Shakespeare competition with a  15 minute Othello piece which  received fantastic feedback: “Incredible  vocal clarity! Totally enjoyed throughout! Well realized choral concept, with use of movement and space. Everyone was seen. Everyone knew their role – excellently staged, cueing, energy… some riveting young performers.”

Special Note:
Much kudos must also go to our amazing Drama Teacher and Master of Stuff and Nonsense, Mr Mark Jensen. For 23 incredible years, Mr Jensen has been the brilliant, creative heartbeat behind the Stuffy Shows. He is one of a kind – and we are so glad he is ours (no one else could make a random prop a highlight of a show as Mark can). He has inspired Northcross students to find confidence, voice and to work outside the box. His dedication, passion and energy cannot be overstated and with a collaborative spirit he builds a team where young people are challenged, feel seen and valued, have fun and become true artistic partners, shaping shows together. Thank you, Mark, for 23 years of imagination, laughter and all that “nonsense” on stage!
