Speech Finalists Impress the Judges

Our very competitive annual school speech competition was held at the end of Term 3. Due to Covid restrictions we had to do things a bit differently and pre-record our finalists in front of a small audience, but this didn’t stop them from presenting amazing content in a dynamic way.
Congratulations to the following students:
1st Place: Lorraine Orseno (Room 9)- Low self-esteem
2nd Place: Carly Fear- Why we shouldn’t let nerves stop us
3rd Place: Cole Hampson-Tindale- Chocolate
Highly Commended: Ethan Butler- Having a better future

The Rotary Preliminary Speech Finals were held on the 21st of October at Northcross Intermediate. Twelve top speakers from a large number of schools on the North Shore were involved in this annual competition.
Representing Northcross were; Lorraine Orseno, talking on ‘Low self-esteem’ and Carly Fear with a speech on, “Why we shouldn’t let nerves stop us.”

Carly was selected to compete as one of the top six contestants from schools around the North Shore at Pupuke Golf Club on Tuesday 27 October. She spoke superbly in front of a large crowd of Rotary members and was awarded a runner-up position, receiving a $75 book voucher for her achievement. Congratulations, Carly!
