On a cracking hot day both our Girls and Boys Tag teams attended the NH Tag Zone Day at Freyberg Park with aspirations of qualifying for Auckland Champs. The girls ripped through their 5 pool games relatively easy, with Birkdale providing a tough game in that clash. That meant Northcross would face Carmel in the Grand Final. They say defence wins championships and that is why our Girls are NH Champions and will attend Auckland Champs after Y8 Camp. Their defence was suffocating and relentless and combined with a few pieces of magic on attack, the girls won 3-0.
Our Boys also went through pool play unbeaten, but unfortunately, because of the way the draw was constructed, did not make the final on points differential. Pretty rough to go through the day unbeaten and not have the opportunity to contest at least a semi-final…however, the shining light in this situation was the boys resilience and mental toughness. They brushed the disappointment aside and went onto win the 3rd/4th playoff very comfortably. A massive as thank you to Sarah Hogan for coaching the lads; awesome effort Sarah and thank you for giving up your time to support our boys. As always, cannot leave out the great supporters who gave up their time to support both the girls and boys teams; really appreciated parents and whanau!
