Gardens and Hydro Grow Systems – Biotechnology

Biotech students have been exploring forms of hydroponics and  ‘soil- less’ gardening.  They have developed these systems using recycled materials, aqua clay balls and organic fertiliser. They learnt methods for testing the pH levels and electro conductivity to seek the best growing conditions for their plants. They have been growing these to supply fresh greens for food tech students. Food tech students enjoy using the edible fresh herbs for their meals and loving being able to come and pick them fresh themselves.

Our students have been loving the amazing outdoor space, utilising the gardens for learning about soil health, making DIY fertilisers, collecting seeds for future, making compost with the new compost bin, discovering the benefits of herbs for well being, medicinal purposes and skin care.
