A massive congratulations to our four Mathex teams who competed against the best intermediate teams across Auckland in a fast moving maths problem solving competition last month. The competition challenges teams of four to answer 20 questions as quickly as possible. The usual time to complete a set of questions is 30 minutes. Jonathan Xu, Corey Zhang, Yigu Ye and Jason Hao fought hard, answering 20 questions in around 18 minutes, placing second out of over 130 teams. Our second year 7 team scored 100, but just not quickly enough to place in the top teams!
For our year 8’s, the team of Roy Deng, Alan Li, Andy Yang and Xavier Turner placed 5th out of over 136 teams – they got caught up on question 15. Our second year 8 team ended on 95/100 having skipped question 15. All mathematicians represented NX with pride.
