Waterpolo A Team
NH Zone Day
At zone day we competed against tough teams who we also come up against in the A grade Friday league such as Murray’s Bay, Rosmini, Albany JR and Carmel College. Throughout the games we built as a team and learned each other’s strengths. Unfortunately we did not get to the final playoffs but after the zone day we went away closer as a team, more focused on practicing new skills and growing even stronger.
Winterfest
Taking into Winterfest what we learnt at zone day, our team was more focused and prepared. Playing in the A-grade meant that we were going to compete against the top schools throughout Auckland.
On the first day of the tournament we left school at 6.30am knowing that we had to face Murray’s Bay for our first game made us a bit nervous. After the first match the team lost a little bit of confidence but with the belief of our coach and supporters we managed to pull it together.
The second game came around and we played so well as a team, we tried new plays, completed good passes and overall just played well, this was a big confidence booster for us. The best game we played was against Rosmini Blue, a team we never could beat, but always came so close, this time we beat them with our spirit and good defence and attack and we came out winning seven to five. After that we had to face a very aggressive King’s College. We played very well and we secured a spot in the top 4.
It was a smooth ride and overall we did amazing over the four days. Our last game was against St Kentigerns, third/fourth play off. We won 6-4, to take the bronze medal. We look forward to AIMS – it will be a blast.

Waterpolo Team B
The B Team competed at both the North Harbour Zone Day and Winterfest tournament, they were awesome events to attend. We got to hang out with the team while we waited for the six minute games up at Millennium. These went very well. We finished 3rd in Division two.
It was similar for Winterfest, except we got to go all over Auckland! First we had a forty minute drive from Northcross to Sacred Heart college, then another thirty minute drive to St Cuthbert’s college. The games were twenty minutes long, which meant we were able to get into it wiht instructions from coach Matt. We competed against some strong team, winning some, loosing some. We all had a great experience, finishing up 8th in div 2 – it was definitely worth it.
