Kia ora Parents and Whānau
As the school year draws to a close, I would like to acknowledge our incredible students supported by their families and Whānau, also recognising our very dedicated and hard working staff.
This year has been filled with many defining moments of learning and growth, as our Northcross students have embraced challenges, celebrated successes, and excelled across the breadth and depth of our curriculum.
Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating the outstanding achievements of many of our students at three special evenings:
Maori and Pacifika Evening: We acknowledged the talents and cultural contributions of our Maori and Pacifika students. Their performances were a testament to their dedication and the rich cultural heritage they represent. Thank you to Maraea Rameka and Mark Jensen for organising the evening and their ongoing encouragement and recognition of our students throughout 2024.
Sports Awards Evening: We recognised the athletic prowess and integrity of our student athletes. From individual triumphs to team successes, their commitment and hard work were truly inspiring. Thank you to Shannon Hale, Director of Sport for overseeing the evening and her commitment in ensuring our students receive the best possible sporting opportunities throughout the year. Shannon moves into the Senior leadership team for 2025 as Associate Principal.
Academic and Cultural Evening: We celebrated academic excellence, artistic expression, and leadership across a wide range of subjects and activities. The talents showcased were a reflection of the diverse and vibrant learning environment that Northcross Intermediate strives to create; students certainly encapsulated our school motto, Individual Growth through Challenge and Learning. Thank you to Christina England, Deputy Principal, for overseeing the evening.
Just as importantly , I would like to take this opportunity to also acknowledge the many students who have demonstrated personal excellence throughout the year, even if they were not present at the award presentations. It is important to recognise that success comes in many forms. For some, it might be mastering a new skill, setting personal goals and achieving them or showing resilience in the face of challenges. Every student who has worked hard to improve, overcome obstacles, and strive for their best deserves recognition. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you for your commitment to growth and personal development this year. Congratulations to you all!
Nga mihi nui
