Outdoor Projects at NX

Kia ora! Through Biotechnology and Visual Art,  our students have been utilising our amazing outdoor ‘Kete Kai’ garden space for learning and developing natural fertilisers from every day ingredients, investigating and making native plant seedbombs for helping to regenerate our adjoining Te ngahere (bush reserve), learning a stratification “wintering’ process for native seeds, making natural skin care products, harvesting fruit, herbs and plants from the Rongoa and Mrs Gummer and Angie Bickerstaff are working with many students to enrich the area with mosiac art work which include colourful tiles, student made clay tiles, painting and a lot of strategic placement of the toku toku patterns.  These will be part of the education programme that will be built into the biotech lessons to help learn about Kaitiatikanga (to care for the environment) and bring an aspect of Hauora (health and wellbeing).
