North Shore Intermediate Regional Chess Competition
Northcross was brilliantly represented at this tournament by 16 of our chess players. For a second year in a row our Team A have taken out the Gold Medal (William Liu, Justin Wang, Rex Chen, & Maximilian Fang). They have won the right to represent North Shore at the nationals which are to be held in Wellington later this year.
Thirty-eight teams competed in this tournament from a range of Intermediates across the North Shore. Northcross’s four teams placed 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th. Special mention and medals also go to both William and Justin who won all six of their games.
Checkmate Challenge
Twenty-one of our students took part in the monthly Online Checkmate Challenge competition. They played five rounds all online against students from all over New Zealand.
Big congratulations to our Northcross One team who placed first overall in today’s Checkmate Challenge. Northcross took out the first six placings for the Intermediate section. Overall competition placings:
