A 19-strong Northcross Swim Team competed at the North Harbour Zone Day on March 11, all putting in outstanding performances. After a series of tough races six of our talented swimmers successfully qualified for the Auckland Champs, which will be held on April 2.
NX Swimmer – Nicole Zhang
A special congratulations goes to Nicole Zhang, who qualified for an impressive four events at the Auckland Champs, including the 50m Backstroke, 50m Freestyle, Open 50m Butterfly, and Open 100m Freestyle.
Although the rest of the team didn’t quite make it through, they were incredibly close to qualifying, with many narrowly missing out by fractions of a second against fierce competition. Each swimmer demonstrated immense skill, determination, and sportsmanship, and their hard work is a true reflection of their commitment to the sport.
NX Swimmer – Ollie Wilson
The Auckland Champs were held on Wednesday, April 2, and what an incredible day it was in the pool! The Northcross Swim Team truly showcased their talent and determination. A huge congratulations to all six swimmers who made their respective finals. Well done to Ollie Wilson, who stormed to victory in the 50m Breaststroke, and to Nicole Zhang, who earned an impressive 2nd place in the 50m Freestyle. We’re still waiting for confirmation on Gary Gao’s 50m freestyle results and the finishing time for the relay team (William Zhang, Charles Cate, Gary Gao, and Junghee Park). Fingers crossed for a couple of fantastic 3rd place finishes!
We couldn’t be more proud of our swimmers performances at the North Harbour Zone Day, and we were absolutely thrilled to watch them continue to push for success at the Auckland Champs. It’s been an amazing journey, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for our swimmers. Best of luck to all the NX swimmers for the rest of your 2025 swim season – keep making waves!
