The Hockey Zone Days were held this term, with Northcross entering both a Boys and Girls team. There were 28 teams from across the North Shore entered into the day and despite our teams being low on numbers due to a clash with Sports Camp week, both teams did extremely well!
The girls team had a fantastic day. They finished top of their pool, putting them straight through to the semi-final which they won convincingly against Kingsway College. This result meant they were up against Mahurangi in the final. Both teams played some great Hockey, but in the end, it was Mahu who took out the title and our girls finishing an amazing 2nd overall – a fantastic achievement.
This means the girls will go on to represent North Harbour in the Auckland Champs next term – all the best for this tournament girls!
The boys started very strong winning each of their Pool games, beating Rosmini in their quarterfinal and going through to the semi-final. Here they came up against MBIS and after full time, the scores were locked at 1-1 which meant they headed into a shoot out. After the first round of penalties, they were still locked, which meant heading into sudden death where unfortunately, NX was pipped at the post. This meant the team went to play for 3rd and 4th against AJHS, where they ended strong and finished on a win, placing third overall.
