Math-nificent Maths Successes

It has been another year of stunning Maths work and engagement at Northcross! Australasian Problem Solving Mathematical Olympiad (APSMO), Otago Maths, Mathex, University of Melbourne Maths and Statistical Challenge, Education Perfect Maths were just some of the events we were involved in. Once again our students have done us proud and we were impressed with their consistent efforts. A huge congratulations to everyone who embraced the challenge, stretched their thinking, and joined in the Maths challenges this year! 

Otago Maths
This annual competition run by Otago University, provides students with problems starting at a difficulty level of Year 7 and progressing up to approximately Year 10.  76 of our amazing mathematicians scored over 90% to reach the Final Challenge, with Alvin Ye, Ella Gao, Allen Bai, Andrew Wan, Shawn Park, Nicole Zhang all earning a Distinction. Emily Zhao achieved 3rd Place across New Zealand. This places all of these students in the Top 5% of Otago Problem Solvers in New Zealand. A stunning result! 

Perfect Scorers In Apsmo

APSMO
Over 200 students took part in this five month long competition, with massive congratulations to Robert Chen, Dylan Sun and Julia Chen who achieved perfect scores. Well done also to Yeonjun Moon, Vernon Xie, Annie Xie, Alinn Kwon, Ryan Lau, Allen Bai and Andrew Wan who achieved the highest scores in their year group competition.

University of Melbourne Mathematical and Statistical Challenge
Over 60 students opted to take part and engage in their own time in an open-ended Maths investigation.
The standard of entries was extremely high, with three students achieving Distinction: Rhys Gao, Dylan Sun, and Keddy Gong. We also had 17 entries who achieved High Commendation for their work. Well done to all of these participants.
