NX Girls’ Hockey Team Triumph at Zone Day!
Our NX 1 Girls’ Hockey Team had an outstanding day at the Harbour Zone tournament held on the 18th of June. The team displayed dedication and teamwork throughout the day and played with focus and determination, winning all of their pool games. They carried their impressive form into the semi-final and final, coming away as Harbour Zone Day Champions!
A huge thank you to our coach Sulette, whose guidance and belief in the girls played a key role in their achievement.
We are incredibly proud of what this team has accomplished! The girls have now qualified for Auckland Champs which is coming up in August and will travel to Tauranga for AIMS in September. Well done girls!

A Close Fought Final for NX Boys Hockey Team
Throughout the North Harbour tournament day the NX Boys 1 Team consistently played well both in attack and on defence. Not only were they undefeated till the final game, but they only conceded 1 goal. Great team work and dogged determination saw the boys cruise through the pool games and they were dominant in their win in the quarter finals.
Having made it to the Semis against an undefeated Rosmini side our boys rose to the challenge and made the most of the opportunities in front of goal, while strong defensive work gave the opposition little chances. Our NX team went on to win the game 3-0.
The final against Kristin was to prove a real nail biter and roller coaster ride. The two teams traded goals and there were a number of moments where either team could have put the ball past the goalie only to be denied by great saves. On the full time whistle the score was 2-2 taking the game to a 8 second shootout. The shootout involves a one-on-one confrontation where an offensive player has 8 seconds to score against the opposing goalkeeper. The deciding shot took a while in coming, a number of players from both sides had stepped up and it was still all locked up. The shootout had to go to sudden death and unfortunately Kristin edged in the winning stroke.
With such a close finish our NX boys team can be deservedly proud of being runners up. We look forward to competing at the upcoming Auckland champions tournament.
