Principal’s Message

Kia ora Parents and Whanau

Reflecting back on term one, 2022, we certainly appreciate the importance of students being back into the routines of learning and social interactions with their peers, teachers and our learning community.

The Intermediate years are an important factor in meeting the needs of students, providing them with the guided opportunities to learn about relationships in the context of their peer group.

Some of the programmes we currently have running at Northcross; Year 7 Challenger Series, Year 8 Outdoor Education Series (term 2), Project Based Learning/Curriculum Programme, lunchtime sports programme, Specialist programme, Student Leadership programme, Music Tuition programme and Future Problem Solving, all promoting and helping students to;

  • nurture trusting relationships
  • support social interactions with peers and adults
  • engaging students in fun activities
  • making learning meaningful
  • enabling students to learn better and helping them take responsibility for their learning and behaviour

This learning pathway optimises the learning opportunities of our students and enhances their potential to live and work successfully in society, today and in the future.  Looking back over the previous two years, we are certainly aware of how quickly society can change. We must adapt to these changes to ensure our school and students continue to thrive.

Thank you to all students who have immersed themselves in their learning while also fully participating in the many other learning/social programmes provided throughout the term.

On May the 25th and 26th we would like to invite parents into the school for student/parent/ teacher interviews. This will be the first time in 2022 parents are able to come into school to meet their child’s teacher. Rather than meeting collectively in the gym parents will be able to meet in the appropriate classrooms. More detailed documentation will follow advising how to book meeting times online.

Please enjoy a well-deserved break and we will see students on the 2nd of May for the start of term 2.

Nga mihi nui,

Jonathon Tredray
