Dear Parents,
As we come to the end of another busy and successful term, I would like to thank you for your continued support of Northcross Intermediate School. Intermediates play a very vital role in the education of our young people. While being an important bridge between primary and secondary school they also provide a unique environment where students can thrive. At Northcross we are committed to providing our students with the best possible education and we believe that our intermediate setting is essential to their success.
I am delighted to reflect on the many achievements of our students.
In the classroom, our students have continued to excel. We have seen some outstanding academic results, with many students achieving excellence in their programmes and assessments. We have also seen our students develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as they have engaged in challenging and stimulating learning activities. These include; Future Problem Solving (World Champions), Mathex, Otago Mathematics (over 1000 students competed in this competition with 11 students with a perfect score), Science Fair including top prize to Ceci Ranum, our Kapa haka welcoming the year 6 families, Book Battle, Rotary Speech Competition, The Robo Cup competition at Saint Cuthbert’s and Writers Workshop.
Outside of the classroom, our students have also been shining. We have had some fantastic sporting results, with our teams competing at a high level in a variety of sports. We have also had many students participate in extracurricular activities, such as music, drama and the arts where they have excelled. These include, Kids Sing at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, The Toi Awards with Brook Donald taking out top design, New Zealand AIMS Games in Tauranga, Hockey and Netball Prize Giving’s and Northcross winning North Shore Chess Champions,
In addition to their academic and sporting achievements, our students have also demonstrated a strong commitment to social responsibility and citizenship. They have volunteered their time to support a variety of causes and have also been involved in a number of initiatives to make our school and community a better place. For example, students have organised a fundraiser to support a local homeless shelter, have collected non-perishable items for a foodbank and some have even volunteered their time to help clean up a local park.
I am incredibly proud of everything that our students have accomplished this term. They are a talented and hardworking group of young people, and I am excited to see what they can achieve next term and in the future.
Again I would like to thank all of our parents for their support this term. Your involvement in your child’s education is essential to their success, and I appreciate your commitment to our school community.
I wish you all a happy and relaxing holiday break, and I look forward to seeing our students back at school on the 9th of October for our last term of the year.
